    • Not really a club, but it’s a community organization. Yes, I found it already. I am not sure if there are other specific clubs like “photography or writer’s club”. So far, nothing really special about the clubs here.

    • The Filipino churches in Thessaloniki are much more than just places just to go and pray, sing and listen to preachers. They are also like families and clubs for Filipinos far from home, and within those families you will find people with similar interests including photography.

What a wonderful idea, to start a Filipino camera club in Thessaloniki!

  1. @Adrian: You are so right! I found some people in church that I think I can consider as sisters and brothers. I am not at the point of familial relationship with them yet, but I will let time to build our relationship. ๐Ÿ™‚
Hahaha, A filipino photography club in Thessaloniki sounds fun.

  2. Nice to meet you Nessy, with all the drama around me just now I had the time to look at your blog and it was very nice to find out that you live in Greece. Well, life here is hard lately, but I do hope you and your husband are doing well! Regards from Athens!

    • Yasou Blaga!
I am glad that you are managing well. So happy that you came to see my blog, too. *hugs*
Honestly, I started this blog just out of boredom. Recession here and there when I arrived to this country. But somehow, we’re both managing. Hoping for the best for all of us! *cheers*
      Regards, from Thessaloniki :*

      • I haven’t been to Thessaloniki in the past 2 years, and I keep on making plans to visit and always something else comes up!
You are right, life here has become quite overwhelming, I don’t know how is up there where you are but here in Athens sometimes is unbearable. I came to Greece 10 years ago and I can’t stop wondering, why? ๐Ÿ™‚
Anyway, it’s nice to find a nice person who lives in Greece to share the English language with ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Hello again , Blaga! It’s quite hot these days, but a bit cooler from where I live in sub-urban Thessaloniki. How is Athens these days?
You’ve been here for quite so long – WOW. So you have seen Greece in its good days. Me? I came here 3 years ago. The start of recession. Newly married and quite innocent about what’s going on here. And in 3 years I still ask the question Why I came to Greece , although the answer is when I see my husband everyday. LOL. Still, I keep wondering, ahahaha!
I have to warn you, unlike you I am not very fluent in English. So pardon my many mistakes especially the grammar. You on the other hand has a superior knowledge of the language, because you cannot write an impressive English poetry if not. Am I not your admirer? hahaha!
Glad to meet you. We should meet someday ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. Hello Nessy! Thank you very much for following me! Funny thing is that i had actually stumbled upon your blog some time ago, before i started to use wordpress. I don’t remember how…i think it was the post about “Action for wildlife”. I’m a member of FOAPTH, if you know it, the photography group of Aristotle University and we visited micropolis a few times to take some photos. Unfortunately i had to move back to my parents house in Halkidiki and i can’t participate any longer. Are you still involved?

    • Hi Alex! That’s true. I wrote about Action for Wildlife not so long ago. Though I stopped volunteering. I have plans to come back there when my schedule fits the volunteering hours in the afternoon. Speaking of photos, I was told and shown the photos taken by students from Aristotle Univ! There were a lot of them, but my favorite has always been about birds. In my short stay in Micropolis as a volunteer, I developed a passion for owls. ๐Ÿ™‚ Are you still on vacation? Thanks alot for dropping by. And you look VERY familiar… have you been to any Anime Party in Thessaloniki?

      • Hey ๐Ÿ™‚ The owls are adorable! I never really liked big birds but after seeing them up-close, they are all beautiful in their own way. I’m not on vacation unfortunately. I was born in Halkidiki, though i’m half Austrian. I was in Thessaloniki for my studies and stayed there to work. In December i had to leave my apartment because i couldn’t pay for it anymore, i have been struggling with finding a proper job for the past 2 years, so i couldn’t stay any longer. Now i’m back at my parents house after 7 years of living alone, which kinda sucks but was the only solution. I still come to Thessaloniki for some photoshoots. And i did in fact come to a lot of Anime parties. Tony from 4Noise is one of my best friends and when they started out i was going to be the photographer for all their events, i did their first event but then i had no time and had to leave that also ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Do you have any photo of yourself here? Maybe i remember you too ๐Ÿ™‚

      • This whole recession issue sipped the life out of us. I understand what you are saying because even though my husband and I (he’s Greek) wanted to separate from his parents, for 4 years we tried, but we couldn’t do it. We used to live in Filyro, if you know the way to Ratsiki & Asvestokhori, we’re separated by mountains only. I couldn’t find stable work, too. Have to learn the language which unfortunately I am still not fluent with. But last year we started a small business for extra income – and it came to fruition this year. And last July, we left my in-law’s house and we are currently living now in our own apartment near kendro. For 3 years now, hubby and I attend some Anime parties. We are known as the “Totoro couple” by some members. Not that we dress up as totoros, hahaha! Yes I know some of the organizers, but not close to them. I know one photographer J. Gikas that does photography sessions and also Panagiotis from Katerini as well as John Maths a.k.a. Yanni. I met a few close Greek friends from the party and I hang out with them. I also hang out with Panagioti and Yanni once in awhile. I love the people there, they’re so cool! But as I said, I started going there 3 years ago only, we might’ve brushed each other shoulders – or that I remember seeing you in their photographs. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m called Nessy San.

      • Hey ๐Ÿ™‚ Nice to hear that it’s been working out for you. It’s a very difficult period for a lot of people. Photography unfortunately doesn’t provide a steady income, that was my main problem. Some times i had so much work to do and i could easily gain enough money for the month and other times, zero. My parents helped me out as much as they could but it wasn’t working out. I’m thinking of moving to Austria, since my mother is from there. We’ll see… I know J.Gikas, he took my place after i left and Panagiotis is probably one of the most hard working and dedicated persons in this field. I used to come to parties about 2-3 years ago, mostly to take photos…but then i had to work and i rarely went. I had my anime phase when i was 15-17…now at 28 to be honest i’m not really interested. It’s just doesn’t do it for me. And i also had a problem that since everyone says i look a lot younger, i had all the 15yearolds flirting with me. Which was not fun :p Hehe. I mostly came for a few minutes to say hi to Tony and that was it. Well maybe when i come again to an event, we’ll get to see each other ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Hahaha, 15 year old flirting with you? Because honestly, the party’s crowd is like that. We attend when we get time only. You are right, reaching 31 myself recently, I feel that Anime doesn’t have a strong impact on me anymore, like it did before. I have other things to consider in life, I mean generally we all grow up, hahaha! But I still watch those that catch my interest when I have free time. It can be entertaining for me and hubby once in awhile. Though life is so difficult now, we can hardly find good work. We’re taking in whatever we can. I do hope that you will find a better place to work, consider it. While you are still young. We are also planning to leave this country when the right time, comes. Well here’s a cheers for good life to all of us! Maybe sometime we can meet in the party. I am easily recognizable because most of the time, I’m the only Asian attending there. See you ’round! ANd good luck to your work. *filakia*
